Light

"You must shine your own light, follow your own path, and don't worry about the darkness, for that is when the stars shine brightest."

We search in the darkness, hoping for something to light our way, to guide us, to drive away the dark, 
and illuminate our truth.

There is a path I wish to take which is unlike any.

There is a fear of failure and getting lost.

There is a constant questioning and wonder by others.

I say to you, you the one who doubts and anticipates my failure,

it is my own path I am taking and you need not worry about my failure, if I ever reach that point.

You say you try to lead me from the dark, unknown path I take, but I feel no security.

I appreciate your concern, but our paths are not the same.

You have heard me speak of something greater, but never really listened.

You say you are a friend, but when I try to find a confidant in you, you find fault in my hopes.

I may stumble and get lost, but it is my own doing not yours.

I would rather fall and get lost by my own doing than by your unassuring guidance.

Now I must create my own light to guide me.
